Al Mirfa central plant was initially formed in
1993 to correspond with the instructions of H.H.
the President of U.A.E. to improve services to
the citizens of the Western Sector, with an over
all cost of Dh 2.6 B. The Actual production of
the plant began in 1995/1996, and on January 1
St, 1999 the formation of Al Mirfa power Plant
was announced to include both of Al Mirfa
Central Plant and Madinat Zayed Power Plant as a
joint stock corporation . By the end of 2001,
the new desalination station ( B ) was put in
service to increase the water production from
16.2 M.G.D to 37.7 M.G.D. The Company acts in
accordance with a license issued on December
6th, 1998 by the regulation and supervisor
bureau that permits it for a period of 25 years
from 1 January 1999 to:
- Distill water to the maximum capacity of
37.7 million gallon per day from Al Mirfa.
- Generate power to the maximum capacity
of 192 MW at Al Mirfa.
- Generate power to the Maximum capacity
of 110 at Madinat Zayed.
